Fall for Spring Update

I spent some time at the nursery this morning. Daffodils are our best bet. They don't require a lot of attention and rabbits hate them. There are several varieties from which to choose. The guy said we needed 6 per square foot to have an impact like we want in the front median and under the signs. The ones I looked at were 32 for $12. I looked very sad and dejected when he said that and responded, "oh, ok." He said if I could wait a few weeks, he could probably donate or at least heavily discount whatever we needed! I would suggest we try to plant on Nov. 24th. That gives us plenty of time for Howard Gabor to roto-till the areas. That's the only soil prep we need. No bone meal. No mulch. We might consider whether or not we want raised beds under the signs. Let's plan on putting the word out in a couple of weeks. I think between my advisory (16) and OC plus some parents, we should have plenty of help.
Thanks,
Randy
